Lysimachia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Primulaceae
A city by this name was also built at the neck of the Crimean Peninsula by a successor to Alexander the Great named Lysimachus. Twenty-two years after its construction an earthquake destroyed it; at around the same time Lysimachus lost his empire and his life in a battle in Asia Minor.
