Loving County, Texas
Loving County is a county located in the U.S. State of Texas. According to the 2000 census, it is the smallest (least populous) of all U.S. counties, with a resident population of only 67. Its county seat—and only city—is Mentone6. The nearest sizable communities include Pecos, Texas and Carlsbad, New Mexico. Loving is named for Oliver Loving, a cattle driver who was killed in a Native American raid on his herd.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,753 km² (677 mi²). 1,743 km² (673 mi²) of it is land and 10 km² (4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.56% water.
