Long-distance pregnancy is a term for the impregnation of a woman from a distance. This is found often in folklore as an explanation for pregnancy when the husband was absent on a long trip. A woman, finding herself pregnant in such circumstances, would often claim that her husband had visited her in a dream and that the baby had been conceived in this way.
In the Middle Ages, an incubus was touted as the cause.
In modern times this is still in use. A woman has claimed she was impregnated by a beach ball, and another has said that she conceived during a particularly intense round of cybersex.
