Buses have been used on three streets of London since 1829. They were known at that time as an omnibus.
The Routemaster bus service has started to be withdrawn after 50 years of service. "Routemaster 1" was 50 years old in 2004.
A new type of bus, called "bendy bus" (an articulated vehicle) has been introduced. In 2004, the routemasters on route 73 were replaced with a bendy bus service.
