Lithotriptor



         


A lithotriptor is a medical device used in the treatment of kidney stones and gallstones. It attempts to break up the stone without harming body tissues by using focused high-intensity ultrasound (inaudible sound waves). This allows for the stones to pass through the body's natural avenues. Since this avoids invasive surgery, recovery is generally rapid.
