List of regional railway stations in Victoria

This is a list of the currently operating Victorian regional railway stations. The stations make up 11 radial train lines, which all operate out of Spencer Street Station in Melbourne, Australia.

Stations listed in bold are terminus stations. Some of these lines, such as the Geelong line have multiple terminuses.

Four previously closed lines - those to Ararat, Bairnsdale, Leongatha and Mildura are in the process of being refurbished as part of the Linking Victoria project. While all were expected to reopen during 2004, the two larger projects, Leongatha and Mildura, have been delayed due to their funding being redirected to cover cost blowouts on the Ararat and Albury-Wodonga line

Ballarat line

This line is being upgraded under the Victorian Regional Fast Rail Project.

Passenger Services may be extended north-west to Mildura under the Linking Victoria Project (though if North Geelong to Mildura rail line is converted from Broad Gauge to Standard Gauge, services between Melbourne and Mildura will not be able to travel via Bacchus Marsh, and will instead involve either a change of train at Ballarat or a less direct trip via Brooklyn-North Geelong C box-Gheringhap).

Geelong line

This line is being upgraded under the Victorian Regional Fast Rail Project.

An extension to Grovedale has been announced. However, it was decided to construct the new terminus on the site of the demolished Marshall station. This decision was controversial, as a significant portion of the local community had demanded that the station be built in Grovedale itself and others are pushing for the extension to continue to Waurn Ponds.

Bairnsdale line

Continues on from the Traralgon line after Traralgon station. The section between Sale and Bairnsdale was closed from August 1993 to (2000?), when it was reopened to cater for log trains. A twice-daily passenger service on the reopened section resumed on 3 May 2004 as part of the Linking Victoria Project.

Warrnambool line

This service also connects with a coach service to Port Fairy and Mount Gambier.

Be advised that service disruptions are expected on this line between May and September 2004 due to issues with the locomotives that are used on this line and red tape preventing the leasing of surplus alternate locomotives. All services will operate, though some services will be operated using road coaches.
