List of the 15 counties in the U.S. state of Arizona:

  1. Apache County formed in 1879 from part of Yavapai County.
  2. Cochise County formed in 1881 from part of Pima County.
  3. Coconino County formed in 1891 from part of Yavapai County.
  4. Gila County formed in 1881 from parts of Maricopa County and Pinal County.
  5. Graham County formed in 1881 from parts of Apache County and Pima County.
  6. Greenlee County formed in 1909 from part of Graham County.
  7. La Paz County formed in 1982 from part of Yuma County.
  8. Maricopa County formed in 1871 from parts of Pima County and Yavapai County.
  9. Mohave County one of the original 4 counties created in 1864.
  10. Navajo County formed in 1895 from part of Apache County.
  11. Pima County one of the original 4 counties created in 1864.
  12. Pinal County formed in 1875 from parts of Maricopa County and Pima County.
  13. Santa Cruz County formed in 1899 from parts of Cochise County and Pima County.
  14. Yavapai County one of the original 4 counties created in 1864.
  15. Yuma County one of the original 4 counties created in 1864.

There is also one defunct county: Pah-Ute County formed in 1865 from Mohave County. It was returned to Mohave in 1871.
