Line drive
In baseball, a batted ball can be called one of several various things, depending on how it comes off the bat and where in the field it lands.
Here is a list of various types of batted balls:
- Line drive
- A sharply hit, low-flying batted ball.
- Fly ball, fly
- A ball that is hit into the air, usually very high.
- Ground ball, grounder
- In baseball, a ground ball, also known as grounder, is a play which a batted ball rolls or bounces on the ground.
- Popup, pop-fly
- A type of fly ball that goes very high and stays close to the infield.
- Foul tip
- A ball ttipped off the bat which goes straight into the catcher's glove and is caught.
