LinEx

GNU/LinEx is a a Linux distribution based on Debian, with GNOME as desktop. GNU/LinEx is an initiative of the regional government of Extremadura. It is intended to be used in all schools in Extremadura, as well as in official institutions. It is actively promoted for business and home use as well.

GNU/LinEx is not the GNU project's distribution of choice, since like Debian, it includes non-free software (contrary to some rumours).

Some features

• Easy, automatic hardware recognition and hard disk installation (Microsoft Windows partition detection is included, but is unable to resize it)
• OpenOffice.org as the default Office applications suite.
• Mozilla and X-Chat in the Internet suite.
• GNOME file manager Nautilus.
• Players
  • Audio XMMS
  • Video Xine

LinEx works only on i386 (onwards) computers.
