Lillestrøm is the centre of the municipality of Skedsmo in the county of Akershus, Norway. Lillestrøm is known as an industrial centre. Some important car mechanic works are situated here.
August 2004 Norway Trade Fairs moved from Sjølyst, Oslo to Lillestrøm.
The local football team, Lillestrøm S.K., plays in the Norwegian premier league (2003).
