A level editor is a piece of software that is used to design levels, missions, or maps for a computer or video game. Often, this is a piece of custom software developed by the game maker, but it can also be a commercial 3D or 2D editing program.
In addition, it is also anther way to refer to an individual who designs levels for a game, though the more appropriate title for such a person is level designer.
