The term "learning styles" refers to the preferred way(s) in which individuals interact with, take in, and process new stimuli or information across the three domains of learning: cognitive, psychomotor and affective. In other words, your preferred learning style is simply how you learn best.
While the theorists may disagree on the vocabulary to describe the four types of learning styles, the following are representative categories: visual (learn by seeing), aural (learn by hearing), read/write (learn by processing text) and kinesthetic (learn by doing). Those individuals who do not demonstrate any one or two strong learning style preferences are described as multi-modal learners.
Learning styles can be determined using assessment instruments like Harvard trained social psychologist, or free .
