During the height of the Los Angeles Riots in 1991, Latasha Harlins (1976-1991) was shot and killed by Soon Ja Du a Korean-American grocery store owner. In a video captured by the security camera in the store, Harlins was seen putting an item into her backpack. After being confronted by Ms. Du, Harlins punched the elderly merchant who then pulled a gun and shot her to death.
