Kuroshio Current

The Kuroshio Current is an ocean current found in the western Pacific Ocean washing the eastern side of Taiwan and going northeastward past Japan, where it merges with the easterly drift of the North Pacific. It is analogous to the Gulf Stream found in the Atlantic Ocean, as it transports warm waters northward to the polar region.

It's also known as "Black Stream", in allusion to the deep blue of its water.

Its northern counterpart is the North Pacific Current.

Its eastern counterpart is the California Current.

Its southern counterpart is the North Equitorial Current.
