King K.Rool is Donkey Kong's arch nemesis from the Donkey Kong Country series, as well as Donkey Kong 64. In Donkey Kong Country he stole Donkey's entire banana hoard, which prompted DK's quest to retrieve them. In Donkey Kong Country 2 (subtitled Diddy's Kong Quest) he kidnapped Donkey Kong; his sidekick Diddy Kong and cousin Dixie Kong took up the torch to rescue him. In Donkey Kong Country 3 K. Rool kidnapped both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Dixie Kong was forced to venture out with her little brother Kiddy Kong to rescue the pair. In Donkey Kong 64 he kidnapped four of Donkey Kong's friends and once again made off with his bananas. The game follows Donkey's quest to retrieve friends and hoard.
His name and "occupation" changes throughout the SNES series. In the original Donkey Kong Country, he was known as King K. Rool, an apparent pirate holding Donkey's bananas on his boat. In the second game, he resided in an airship and titled himself Kaptain K. Rool. In Donkey Kong Country 3, he took on the guise of a stereotypical mad scientist, calling himself Baron K. Roolstein. The final battle of the game takes place in his castle.
