Kill Rock Stars

Kill Rock Stars is a grunge post-punk recording label founded in 1991 by Slim Moon and based in Olympia, Washington. Moon initially started the label with the intention of releasing spoken word 7" single records. But KRS's roster rapidly expanded to music by local artists such as Unwound, Witchypoo, and influential riot grrrls Bikini Kill, as well as foreign bands like England's Huggy Bear. Later artists have included Sleater-Kinney, Lois Maffeo, Mary Lou Lord, Elliott Smith and Bratmobile.

Musicians such as Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, John Wozniak of Marcy Playground, and Jason Frost of Love Junkies frequented and lived in this tiny northwestern musical town in the early 1990s.
