Key (instrument)



         


A key is a small rectangular button on a musical instrument that is depressed to cause the instrument to create a sound of a particular pitch. Keys are organized into keyboards, typically with the keys arranged left to right from the lowest pitch to highest and with the naturals done in white and the sharps/flats in black.
