Kato Zakros is a small region that is situated at the eastern coast of the island of Crete.
Historically, it is important as it contained what is believed to be one of the four administrative districts of the Minoan civilization. The Minoan Palace of Zakros is situated just outside the eponymous village.
Nowadays, the area is popular with tourists, due to pristine beaches and the aforementioned historic sites.
