Katharine Kent
Her Royal Highness The Princess Edward, Duchess of Kent (Katharine Lucy Mary Windsor, formerly Worsley), styled HRH The Duchess of Kent, is a member of the British Royal Family through her marriage to Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, a first cousin to the Queen.
She was born at Hovingham Hall, Yorkshire, and was the only daughter of Sir William Arthrington Worsley, 4th Bt., and his wife, Joyce Morgan, daughter of Sir John Brunner, the founder of Brunner Mond, which later became ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries).
On June 8, 1961, she married His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent at York Minster. Their official residence is at Kensington Palace in West London. Together the Duke and Duchess have three children listed below.
- Earl of St. Andrews (George Philip Nicholas Windsor), born 26 June 1962 at Coppins, Iver, Buckinghamshire.
- The Lady Helen Taylor, born 28 April 1964 at Coppins, Iver, Buck., and styled Lady Helen Windsor until marriage.
- The Lord Nicholas Windsor, born 25 July 1970 at University College Hospital, London.
The Duchess of Kent is strongly associated with the world of music, and has performed as a member of several choirs. She is also well-known as the presenter of trophies at the annual Wimbledon lawn tennis championships -- a role she inherited from her mother-in-law, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark.
The Duchess was received into the Roman Catholic Church in 1994.
In March 2004 it that the Duchess of Kent had been working as a music teacher in Wansbeck Primary School in Hull for eight years as "Mrs. Kent".
