Julian Bond



         


Julian Bond (b. 1940) is an American leader of the civil rights movement. During the early 1960s, he helped found SNCC, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and as of 2004 is Chairman of the NAACP. He has been a "lecturer" at the University of Virginia since 1990 and a professor there since 1998. In addition, he has been a professor at American University, near his Washington DC home, since 1991.
