Jordin Tootoo



         


Jordin Tootoo (born February 2, 1983, in Churchill, Manitoba) is a professional ice hockey player. He currently plays for the Nashville Predators.

Playing Career

Jordin Tootoo was selected 98th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected as the 6th choice of the Nashville Predators.

From 1999 to 2003 he played for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League.

He became the first player of Inuit decent to play in a regular season NHL game when he suited up against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on opening night October 9, 2003. He was also the first person of Inuit decent to be drafted by an NHL team.

He got his first NHL point with an assist on a Dan Hamhuis goal against the St. Louis Blues on October 16, 2003. He scored his first NHL goal against the Atlanta Thrashers on October 23, 2003.

Tootoo got a "Gordie Howe hat trick" against the St. Louis Blues on January 10th 2004 when he notched a goal, assist, and fighting major.
