Founded in 1841 the Jewish Chronicle (affectionately known as The JC) is The U.K.'s national Jewish newspaper. It has played a central part in the development of British Jewry and has the distinction of being the oldest continuously published Jewish newspaper in the world. It is entirely independent and is owned by The Kessler Foundation, a charitable trust which has overall control of the newspaper and its assets. In this way, the newspaper is immune from takeover by predators, ensuring that its editorial independence and integrity is upheld at all times. It appears every Friday providing news, views, social, cultural and sporting reports, as well as lively editorial and a spectrum of reader opinions on the letter page.
More information on its history and development available in 'The Jewish Chronicle and Anglo Jewry', David Cesarani (Cambridge University Press).
