Jerrold Nadler

Jerrold Lewis Nadler (born June 13, 1947) is a politician from the U.S. State of New York.

Nadler was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Columbia University. He worked for Eugene McCarthy's presidential campaign in 1968, and was elected to the New York general assembly in 1976. In 1992, Ted Weiss ran for the 8th Congressional district and won, but died a day before the primary election. Nadler was nominated to replace Weiss by convention. He was elected easily to the House of Representatives that November and has been re-elected with little serious competition.

Nadler has one of the most liberal voting records in the House. His district includes the World Trade Centers. After 9/11, Nadler helped to pass bills helping the families of those killed and small businesses that were harmed due to the attacks. Nadler opposed both the USA PATRIOT Act and the War in Iraq. Nadler also had gastic bypass surgery in 2002, helping him lose sixty pounds.
