Jane's Addiction is a American band which began in the late 1980s, and returned in the early 2000s. The band was influenced by punk, Gothic rock, metal, hard rock and psychedelic styles.
Formed in 1984 by Perry Farrell and Eric Avery (bass), the band existed from 1984-1991 with Farrell, Avery, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins. They released their first, self-titled, album in 1987.

The band also made a movie called Gift, a modern gothic tragedy.
