James Boyle is a co-founder of the Creative Commons. The Creative Commons is a not-for-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative work available for others to legally build upon and share.

Boyle is currently a teaching professor at the Duke Center for the Study of the Public Domain at Duke Law School, in Durham, North Carolina.
