Jacques Leclerc de Hauteclocque (1902 - 1947), French general.
Captured by German forces in France in 1940, he managed to escape to join General De Gaulle and became one of the most important generals of the Free French Resistance. He commanded the famous IInd armored division which liberated Paris and Strasbourg, and assaulted Hitler's headquarters in the Austrian Alps. When the war was over in Europe, he recieved command of the French forces in Pacific, and represented France during the surrender of the Japanese Empire. He died in a plane accident in 1947.
