Isabel Clarke Forbes was the daughter of William Mather Clarke, a banker. She and her husband, Francis Blackwell Forbes, lived in China, London and Paris, and had five children: F. Murray Forbes, Ethel A. Forbes, C. Stewart Forbes, J. Grant Forbes, and Evelyn Forbes. She died September 1. 1931.
