Iron Maiden is a heavy metal band from east London, England, which was formed in 1975 by bassist Steve Harris, formerly a member of Gypsy's Kiss and Smiler.

Iron Maiden is considered to be one of the most influential in the heavy metal music genre, having sold more than 75 million albums world-wide.

The band's mascot, Eddie, is a perennial fixture in the often violent album cover-art, as well as a presence in live shows. Eddie also featured in a video game, Ed Hunter.
