As of 2001, the IRA Army Council consisted of:
SEVEN MEMBER IRA ARMY COUNCIL: Thomas "Slab" Muprhy, Cheif of Staff; Brian Keenen, Ass. Cheif of Staff; Gerry Adams, President of Sinn Fein since 1983, M.P. for West Belfast, member of the IRA since 1965. Martin McGuiness, Sinn Fein M.P./M.L.A., head of Derry IRA & IRA Northern Command; Pat Docherty, Vice President, Sinn Fein; Martin Ferris, Sinn Fein T.D. for Kerry North, IRA gun-runner; Martin Lynch, Adj-General Bernard Fox, Engenering. Patrick Thompson, Director of Finance. Bobby Story, Director of Intelligence, jailed on arms charges.
As of 2004 the Army Council numbered Adams, Ferris, Gillian, Keenen, McGuinness, Murphy, and 'the man from Monaghan'.
