Ipswich, Australia
The city of Ipswich is situated 40 kilometres to the west of the Queensland state capital, Brisbane. The city has a population of 129000 persons (Census 2001).
It is the site of the Royal Australian Air Force base Amberley, the largest operational air force base in Australia. It is the home to 1 and 6 Squadrons, flying the General Dynamics F-111 strike aircraft, as well as to 38 Squadron's Caribou aircraft.
Ipswich is also home to a satellite campus of the University of Queensland.
