The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is an international NGO, with offices in ten countries. The institute's main goal is to find sustainable ways to improve the well-being of poor rice farmers and consumers, as well as environment.

IRRI was established in 1960 and its research activities began in 1962.

IRRI is well known on its contribution to the movement, so called, "Green Revolution" in Asia during late 60's and 70's. The varieties developed in IRRI, called IR series is well accepted in many Asian countries.
