Small Austrian territory southeast of the Inn river.
The Inn District belonged to Bavaria until 1778. In consequence of the War of Bavarian Succession it was ceded to the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.
The major city in the Inn District is Braunau am Inn. Braunau is a Austrian city on the Bavarian border on the railroad Munich-Vienna. It is the place were the Austrian citizen Adolf Hitler was born and raised.
