The Indonesian Democratic Party - Struggle (PDI-P) is a political party in Indonesia. Its ideology is based on Pancasila.
It was formed in 1996 as a split from the Indonesian Democratic Party or PDI, who had attempted to oust Megawati Sukarnoputri. She founded the PDI-P instead, and took most of the membership and support of the PDI with her.
In the Indonesian legislative election, 2004, PDI-P obtained 18.5% of the total votes, down from the 33.7% it obtained during the Indonesian presidential election, 2004, the party nominates Megawati as the presidential candidate and KH Hasyim Muzhadi as the vice presidential candidate.
