3M Company (originally Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company) is an American corporation that produces a widely diversified range of products including Scotch tape and Post-It Note.

The company was established in Duluth, Minnesota in 1902, but soon moved its headquarters to Maplewood (a St. Paul suburb), where it remains to this day. It has greatly expanded from its original product line of coated abrasives, to the point where 3M is one of the 30 companies included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and is number 126 in the 2002 Fortune 500 listing. Their most recognized brands are the Scotch line of products and Post-it notes.

3M's data storage and imaging divisions were spun off in 1996 as Imation Corporation; Imation has since sold its imaging and photographic film businesses to concentrate on storage.

3M trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol MMM. 3M, long the company's nickname, was made the company's official name in 1992.
