Il-62
The Ilyushin Il-62 is a long range airliner which is similar in appearance to the Vickers VC-10, which was built in 1967. It has 4 rear-mounted engines NK-8-4 in pairs, the only airliner apart from the VC-10 to use this configuration.
It's one of the biggest aircraft without powered flight controls, moving surfaces being controlled by direct cable links.
It has a extra tailwheel below the tail to prevent it tilting backwards while loading.
The aircraft has special provisions for gear-up landings like a strengthened hull at the bottom, and a ski in the middle.
The Il-62M variant (first fligt in 1971, introduced in 1973) has more powerful, more economical engines D-30KU and an extra fuel tank fitted in the tail. Nearly all Il-62's in service today are Il-62M models. In 1978 was build next variant - Il-62MK with 195 seats which can lift 2.000 kg more than Il-62M
Air Koryo and Cubana de Aviacion still use Il-62's in commercial service: the aircraft can also be found in the countries of the former Soviet Union.
