The ideographic iteration mark (々) is used in Japanese kanji to represent multiple things. Essentially, plural form is rare in the language, but it does come up. This differs for Chinese, which normally only repeats multiple characters for the purposes of adding emphasis.
The term for "us" (Wareware, Japanese) Japanese: 我々
The term for "our" (Ware, Japanese) Japanese: 我
In certain instances, the meaning is altered in its entirety. Here are some usage examples:
多々 - Many, in large quantity (多-many)
人々 - People (人-person)
個々 - Strenuous
次々 - Continuous (次-the next)
In Chinese, a similar mark is used in fast writing to represent a doubled character, but it is never used in careful writing or printed matter.
