Ibrahim Muteferrika



         


Ibrahim Muteferrika (1674-1742) ran the first official press of the Ottoman Empire, publishing its first book in 1729. Born in present-day Cluj-Napoca, Romania, he was a Hungarian Unitarian who converted to Islam.
