The WebSphere Application Server product, as marketed by IBM, provides middleware to set up, operate and integrate e-business applications across multiple computing platforms using web technology. It is part of the IBM WebSphere brand of software products.
IBM have constructed WebSphere using open standards such as the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE), XML and Web Services standards.
WebSphere development is done in multiple IBM locations around the world.
