Hope & Faith is an American sitcom airing on ABC in the United States, starring Faith Ford and Kelly Ripa. Ford plays a homemaker in suburban Columbus, Ohio with a husband Ted McGinley and three children. Ripa plays her sister, a soap opera star, whose character (and, subsequently, her character's twin) is killed off, leading her to move in with her sister. Hilarity ensues.
Guest stars on the show include Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford. The show was created by Joanna Johnson, who was a former soap opera star herself, having played Caroline Spencer and, later, her twin Karen on The Bold and the Beautiful. The show is semi-biographical.
In early November 2003 the show helped ABC tie for the lead in Friday night viewership, with an audience for the show of around twelve million. By February 2004, ABC ordered four more episodes for the show's first season, for a total of 26 episodes; as of then, Hope & Faith was being watched by around nine million viewers each week. It contined at that level for March, though by mid-April, when the show was renewed for a second season, it was down to 6.8 million viewers and a 57th-place showing in the ratings.
