Heckler und Koch Mark 23 Mod 0

The Heckler und Koch Mark 23 Mod 0 is a match grade pistol chambered in .45 ACP caliber, built by Heckler and Koch as an "offensive" handgun for the U.S. Special Operations Command. Due to its design intentions, it is also called SOCOM; MK23 USSOCOM is engraved on the barrel. It uses a hexagonal barrel design, which is reported to improve accuracy. All guns have a threaded barrel and railings for a silencer and laser aiming module (LAM). The gun uses an ambidextrous safety and magazine release and significantly longer trigger guard for use with gloves. It is based on the HK USP design, upgraded to resist the hostile conditions which the gun is designed to be operated in. In fact, the silencer works better if submerged in salt water. However, its extremely large size has resulted some criticism of it, which in response the HK USP was developed. The SOCOM measures up to 23 cm, and over a foot long if fitted with a silencer.
