Harry Gibson
Harry Gibson (* 1914, † May 3, 1991) was a jazz pianist, singer, and songwriter, known as "Harry The Hipster".
He played piano at a speakeasy on 52nd Street, New York run by Leon Enkin and Eddie Davis. Davis taught him jive. He recorded such records as "Handsome Harry the Hipster," "I Stay Brown All Year Roun'," "Get Your Juices At The Deuces," "Stop That Dancin' Up There," and "Who Put the Benzedrine in Mrs Murphy's Ovaltine".
He was known for his unusual songs and his frantic singing style. The peak of his career was from 1944 to 1947, after which drug use led to his decline. He did not record from 1947 till 1974, then did not record again till 1986.
