Hansa Bank is a bank operating in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Since establishment in 1992, the group has grown from its nine founding members to the largest banking institution in the Baltic states, with 6,000 employees and over 3.5 million private clients and 100,000 business clients. At the end of 2002 the group had over 700,000 internet banking customers. The Group's total assets exceed 5.24 billion euros and shareholders' equity 0.58 billion euros. The Swedish banking group Swedbank is the main owner.
The Swedish banking group SEB owns Eesti Ühispank, Latvijas Unibanka and Vilnius Bankas, which are Hansa Bank's main competitors.
