Guttermouth is an American punk rock band. They were formed in 1988 in California; Derek Davis joined the band and performed for the first time in 1989.
Soon after, Guttermouth signed a recording contract with former Offspring member Bryan Dexter Holland's Nitro Records, and began issuing albums at a breakneck pace, including 1996's Teri Yakimoto, 1997's Musical Monkey, and 1999's Gorgeous, the latter featuring new drummer Ty Smith. By the dawn of the new millennium, Guttermouth had switched to Epitaph Records in 2000, and issued further releases such as 2001's Covered With Ants, 2002's Gusto! and 2004's Eat Your Face, which will be released on July 13th. Guttermouth is skate punk thrash rock with a tongue-in-cheek feel. While their lyrics are crude and sometimes malevolent towards homosexuals, vegetarians and people of other races, it is all in good humour and well worth a listen.
Guttermouth is based in Huntington Beach,CA in Orange County. Their earlier albums were totally off the planet, and while Mark Adkins is ageing, the band continues to rock. The 2003 album Gusto (below) was off on a tangent, bearing no resemblance to their true punk identity. Eat Your Face returns to the zany punk format and is well worth the money. The best album for mine is "Full Length LP". The best song: MR BBQ. Detailing the great american tradition of scorching a few 'weenies' and then proceeding to eat them. No French in this either, so all ages can enjoy.
While Guttermouth is tongue-in-cheek band, there have been moments when the man has stopped them from unleashing punk rock mayhem. Canada has banned them from performing north of the border. Tijuana is a wasteland for the band. etc. etc.
Guttermouth's influences include NOFX, Offspring, Green Day and the other west coast skate punk bands. DO NOT TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY!
