Great Bear Lake



         


Great Bear Lake (Sahtu) is the largest lake in the Canadian territory of Northwest Territories and the fourth largest in North America with a surface area of 31,800 km² (12,275 sq mi). The lake has a total volume of 2,292 cu km.

The lake empties through the Great Bear River (Sahtu De) into the Mackenzie River. The only community along the lake is Deline.

The Sahtu Dene people took its name from the lake.
