Grand Theft Auto 2

Grand Theft Auto 2, a video game released on September 19, 1999 in the United States, is the sequel to DMA Design's controversial 1997 hit Grand Theft Auto retained the top-down viewpoint of the original, and added a choice of factions to the car-stealing/telephone-answering formula of the original.

It features enhanced 3D graphics and more weapons. There are two new factions for each of the three levels of the game, and one faction which is present in all levels. These can be worked for, and being employed by one gang creates distrust from another in a "rock, paper, scissors" way (gang no.1 is disliked by gang no.2, gang no.2 by no.3 and no.3 by no.1).

It also included a better saving technique than the original Grand Theft Auto (wich saved only every time you finish a city) by having the player enter a church. A voice saying "Jesus saves" was then heard, an obvious pun, notifying the player that he saved the game. A similar saving technique was implemented in the later sequels, but using a safehouse that could also store stolen vehicles.

There are 7 gangs in the game. 1. Zaibatsu Pharmaceuticals (their mark is a yellow 'Z') - They appear in the all of the areas and their specialty is drug dealing. Their car (called Z-Type) is the best gang car available (but second fastest). 2. Loonies (their mark is a winking smiley) - They appear in the first area and they have a little bit of problem in the head. Their gang car is green Bug with their mark painted on the top. 3. Yakuzas (Their mark is a blue yen) - They also appear in the first area, they are a generic (does a little bit of everything) gang. 4. Scientists (Their mark is hard to describe.) - They appear in the second area, and apparantly, all of the gang members are clones of a genetically enhanced human! Their specialty is weapon development and cloning, and their leaders came from Norway. Their gang car is called Meteor, and it is FASTEST gang car available. 5. Rednecks (their mark is the confederation flag) - They appear in the second area, they are BIG fans of Elvis Presley, they are generic just like Yakuzas. Their car is called U-Jerk, which is a wide pick-up truck. 6. Russian Mafia (their mark is a 5-edged red star) - They appear in the third area. They specialize in advanced weaponry. Their car is some sort of a small closed pick-up truck. 7. Hare Krishna - They appear in the third area. They're generic, and their car is actually a big bus with flowers painted on it's roof.
