The Grammy Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Male or Female was awarded just once, at the Grammy Awards of 1990. The award was presented to Al Green for his performance of "As Long As We're Together". Prior to this year the award had been presented as separate awards for male and female soul gospel performances. After 1990 the award structure was again changed and soul gospel performances were divided into contemporary and traditional awards.
Years reflect the year in which the Grammy Awards were presented, for works released in the previous year.
