Gold beach was the codename for one of the invasion beaches during the World War II Allied invasion of Normandy, 6 June 1944. It lay roughly in the centre of the invasion area, between Omaha Beach and Juno Beach.
The beaches of D-Day are still known by their invasion codenames today.
