Glenlivet
Glenlivet is a brand of single malt scotch whiskey produced by Seagram. The label of the whiskey says "Distilled by George & J. G. Smith." This father and son were the first proprietors of the distillery at which the scotch is made. The same bottler, Gordon and MacPhail, produce other "Glenlivet" whiskies under the name "George and J.G. Smith's Glenlivet Whiskey," but these are not the same brand.
The whiskey originates in the Glen of the Livet, and two other distillers, Tamnavulin and Braes, are also in the area, with the latter also owned by Seagram. In the Avon valley, the Tomintroul distillery also uses the term "Glenlivet" on its label. The nearest town to the Livet glen is Tomintoul, Scotland, which is approximately ten miles (16 kilometers) south.
