Gingiva



         


The gingiva, or gums, consist of the tissue surrounding the roots of the teeth and covering the jawbone. Healthy, normal gingiva will be colored pink or pale red, with teeth firmly in their sockets. Improper or insufficient oral hygiene can lead to many gum disorders, including gingivitis or periodontal disease.
