Gers is a French département.
Historically, Gers was part of Gascony. It was created as a separate département during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790, in application of the Law of December 22, 1789, partitioning the provinces of Guyenne and Gascony.
Gers is part of the Midi-Pyrénées region. It borders the départements of Hautes-Pyrénées, Haute-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot-et-Garonne, Landes, and Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
